NATALIE DOUGLAS
Attorney
Hi, I’m Natalie, attorney and proud owner of The 2071 Law. As a veteran, a member of the Virginia State Bar, and a former law enforcement officer, service has always been at the heart of my work.
Growing up in poverty and serving the public for most of my career shaped my vision for
The 2071 Law: a client-centered, service-focused firm that makes justice more accessible. I partner with charities and host free “ask-an-attorney” events to ensure our community has answers to their most pressing legal questions. My upbringing sparked my desire to make access to justice more affordable: I offer
free consultations and affordable payment plans.
Born and raised in Portsmouth, I’m a true local who’s never forgotten my roots. As a first-generation college graduate, attorney, and now business owner, I’m honored to be living out a legacy of service. I earned both my undergraduate and law degrees from Regent University in Virginia Beach and built my career in service to my country, my community, and now my clients.
I founded The 2071 Law with the mission “Always In Service.” My journey began shortly after 9/11, when I joined the United States Coast Guard. Later, I served with the Portsmouth Police Department, starting in patrol before becoming a field training officer and eventually a detective in the Special Victims Unit investigating sex crimes and crimes against children. My years in law enforcement gave me unmatched experience in investigations and procedures, insight I now use to uncover critical details that have led to the dismissal of criminal charges for my clients.
In addition, I’ve gained invaluable experience working for judges in state and federal courts, most recently as a Judicial Law Clerk for Hon. Clifford L. Athey, Jr. of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. This role inspired me to develop a strong appellate practice. From public defense, where I handled hundreds of trials, to personal injury, criminal defense, and traffic defense at local firms, I have seen nearly every angle of the legal system.
At my firm, you won’t find pretenses or barriers, you’ll find a lawyer who cares. My clients call me Natalie, they have my cell phone number, and they know I’m here for them every step of the way. If you’re looking for an attorney who will fight for you, keep you informed, and treat you like family, you’re in the right place.
